Open Paddock – Get Close to the Drivers, Teams and Cars

An open paddock means you can wander around outside the tents and garages the teams use to prep their cars. For many races, the paddock is a closed area with very limited access, but Lone Star Le Mans opens it to the public.

Grand Plaza Activities

Swing by the Grand Plaza for food, fun and frivolity. Below are a couple highlights that you won’t want to miss, but don’t stop with just these. Wander around the Grand Plaza to uncover more entertainment.

Château COTA

Stop at the brand new French-themed village for wine tasting from Le Sommelier, crêpes from Crêpe Café and coffee. Any race event that goes into the night calls for good, strong espresso!

Jim Hall’s 2E Chaparral Car

The 2E car driven by Jim Hall, a legendary F1 driver and engineer of the iconic Chaparral cars, will be on display in the Grand Plaza. The 2E car is a mid-engined Chaparral, one of the most iconic sports-racing cars ever built.

Ferris Wheel

You may have seen the Circuit from the top of the Tower, but you’ve never seen it like this. Hop on board the Ferris wheel and enjoy a unique moving view from this family-friendly ride.

Family Fun Zone

Bring the kids to the Family Fun Zone for face painting, a huge slide and an interactive inflatable to let your kids play around.

Music

Enjoy some upbeat music from bands performing in the Château COTA area of the Grand Plaza on Saturday evening.
• 6:00 PM – 6:45 PM: Shotgun Civics
• 7:15 PM – 8:00 PM: The Sideshow Tragedy
• 8:30 PM – 9:15 PM: Shotgun Civics
• 9:45 PM – 10:30 PM: The Sideshow Tragedy

Other Entertainment Activities

The fun isn’t limited to the Grand Plaza or the Paddock.

Grid Walk

Take a stroll down the grid while its filled with cars and their drivers.

• Saturday: 10:25 AM - 11:05 AM

Fireworks

On Saturday night at 9 PM, a fireworks display will light up the sky while cars are still on the track. This dazzling sight was mesmerizing last year, and a highlight for many race fans.

Tower Tours

Take a trek up the 251ft tall Observation Tower to see the track from above.
• Thursday & Friday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• Saturday: 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Tickets for Tower Tours can be purchased at the base of the tower. Tours for adults are $20.00 per person, and tours for kids, military and seniors are $15.00 per person.

Friday Night Entertainment in Austin: Screening of "Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans"

COTA is hosting an exclusive one-night-only screening of the new racing documentary “Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans” at the Alamo Drafthouse located off South Lamar on Friday, September 18. The documentary debuted this year at the Cannes Film Festival to rave reviews from both critics and audiences alike, and COTA is now bringing the film to Austin residents before U.S. Distributor, FilmRise, releases the film domestically on November 13.

The screening is $10 to attend, although you must reserve your spot beforehand, as space is extremely limited. To reserve a seat, please go here.
